On the simple grounds that they, the students, are children. If the teacher is indifferent to the inner world of the child, to his experiences, he has no place in school, even if he knows his subject very well.

The modern teacher should bring out the best qualities inherent in the soul of each child, to encourage children so that they take pleasure in the acquired knowledge, so that after finishing school, they are clearly aware of their place in society.
