Teaching is a profession within which there are many specializations. One or more of several areas of pedagogy are chosen by future professionals in the process of training, promotion, or retraining. The main ones are:
Elementary school teacher. Pedagogical universities have a special department for those who in the future want to teach the youngest schoolchildren. This is done for a reason: to work with students 7-10 years old, you need a good knowledge of child psychology, physiology and the ability to hold the attention of children.
The middle and high school teacher, the “subject teacher”. These are teachers who specialize in a single subject. Teachers are trained at specialized faculties of pedagogical universities. A graduate of a philological department is a teacher of A graduate of a philological department will be a teacher of language and literature, a physics teacher, or a biology teacher. Often schools employ teachers with two training profiles, for example, mathematics and economics. As a rule, these are graduates of those faculties, where training is carried out in two profiles.
Pedagogue-psychologist, social pedagogue, tutor. This specialist is responsible for the psychological development of schoolchildren, solving problems with academic performance and attention deficit. Very often, the school psychologist is the first to notice that the child has conflicts in the family or depression.
The teacher-defectologist is one of the most difficult specializations. A defectologist works with children with physical and mental developmental disabilities. Such a teacher must be not only a sensitive teacher and educator. He must have an in-depth knowledge of medicine and psychology. For example, a speech therapist known to many children and their parents is a defectologist.
A teacher of deviant behavior works with so-called “difficult” children. Such a specialist corrects atypical behavior of schoolchildren: aggression towards peers, difficulties in adaptation. One of the tasks of the deviant behavior educator is to prevent the schoolchildren from harming themselves and others.
